Downtown NA Capshew Cellars Tasting

Aug 2nd, 2013

Join us on August 2nd from 5-7 PM at our downtown New Albany location as we welcome our friend Bob Capshew, from Capshew Cellars with his lineup of Shrub cocktail mixers.  What's a shrub you ask? Shrubs are made from fruit, vinegar and a sweetener. The tradition of vinegar-based beverages goes back to colonial times in the United States.  These drinks also had a second resurgence in the temperance era of the 19th century.  Vinegar played a key role in the preservation of both food and beverages before refrigeration and canning became available.

This syrupy combination makes an intense cocktail when diluted with a carbonated drink such as soda water.  Shrubs drinks may be made with or without alcohol.  The drink proportions are: 1 oz. Shrub mix 4-5 oz. Soda or tonic water 1.5 oz. spirits (optional) Serve on ice.

We'll be serving up the following flavors:
 - Strawberry
 - Strawberry/Rhubarb
 - Blueberry
 - Blackberry

This is a free tasting and open to the public (21 and older)

We are holding these Friday night tastings in conjunction with the City of New Albany's Summer Concert Series. Stop in before or during the concert to check out this great tasting.
