Since the beginning of Portland's micro brewing movement, Oregon has been known as the epicenter of America's micro brewing renaissance. In 2006, 33 microbreweries, more than one-third of the state total, were located in Portland. With 46 microbrew outlets, Portland has more breweries and brewpubs per capita than any other city in the United States. Many have won nationwide and international acclaim. Oregon also has the most breweries per capita in the state than any other state.
